NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - May 6, 2013) - Corsearch, a division of Wolters Kluwer Corporate Legal Services and the premier provider of clearance and protection solutions for trademark and brand professionals, has launched a filing service to help brand professionals submit trademark data into the Trademark Clearinghouse. Corsearch's filing service draws on its thorough understanding of trademark issues to help brand professionals submit their information properly and ensure they are protecting their brands as new Generic Top-Level Domains (gTLD) are launched. Corsearch will introduce its service at the 2013 International Trademark Association Annual Meeting (INTA), which takes place in Dallas on May 5 - 9.
The Trademark Clearinghouse serves as a rights protection mechanism to help organizations protect their brands during the launch of the new gTLD program.
Corsearch's Trademark Clearinghouse filing service is integrated seamlessly into the Corsearch platform and incorporates sophisticated tools to make it easy for customers to use. In addition, Corsearch customers can work with a Digital Brand Management Consultant to understand the Trademark Clearinghouse submission process and help navigate opportunities and challenges as critical new gTLD strategies are developed.
"As a leading global trademark research firm that works with 70 percent of the top 25 law firms, and eight of the top 10 Fortune 500 companies, Corsearch understands the intricacies and nuances of trademarks," said Joshua Braunstein, general manager, Corsearch. "This expertise is reflected in our Trademark Clearinghouse filing service, which incorporates advanced time-saving tools that are attuned to the workflow of trademark professionals."
Brand owners that submit their trademark data into the Trademark Clearinghouse's centralized database, and have those marks successfully validated, will be granted the following rights:
- 30-Day Pre-Sunrise Notification: Requires all gTLDs who will be holding a Sunrise offering to provide at least a 30-day advance notice that the Sunrise window will be opening. This provides brand owners an opportunity to evaluate participation.
- 30-Day Sunrise Period: Requires all gTLDs who will be holding a Sunrise offering to provide a window of at least 30 days for brand owners to submit their registrations. Each validated trademark will receive a Sunrise Key that will need to be presented to their registrar during Sunrise.
- 90-Day Claims Period: Notices will be sent to anyone trying to register a domain matching a trademark in the Trademark Clearinghouse. The registrant will have to acknowledge the notice before proceeding to register the domain. If they proceed, the relevant rights holders will receive a notice of registration.
Corsearch's robust filing service allows users to enter, review, submit and manage their trademarks in the Trademark Clearinghouse efficiently via the Corsearch.com platform. Users enter a registration number, and the platform automatically populates the registration forms with the relevant trademark data drawn directly from Corsearch's extensive collection of database from the official Patent and Trademark offices in over 90 jurisdictions. Built in error-checking ensures that all required fields are populated and that prohibited registration types are not submitted. Finally, the document upload feature allows users to easily upload and attach the required supporting documentation.
