Corvirtus Announces Market's First Professionalism Assessment

Designed to Assess Level III Professionalism; Applicable to Any Job Role and Industry Segment

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO--(Marketwire - Mar 8, 2012) - Corvirtus, a provider of innovative, science-based measurements and services for a range of talent processes, announces the availability of LEAP, the market's first professionalism self-assessment tool.

The assessment, designed to measure Level III professionalism, goes beyond traditional assessments for vocational competence and professional ethics and encompasses measurements for desire for continuous improvement, professional engagement, professional image and selflessness. The assessment is based on the principles of a three-level professionalism spectrum developed by Dr. Tony Kern, an expert in the field of human performance and judgment and author of the recently published book, Going Pro: The Deliberate Practice of Professionalism.

"Professionalism is an often talked-about concept. You'll find it referenced in most job descriptions. However, internal definitions are widely inconsistent -- if they even exist -- and typically employees have no clue as to the behaviors expected," said Dr. Bobby Baker, vice president of research and development for Corvirtus. "LEAP offers companies a way to consistently assess their employees and provide actionable information that employees can then use to improve."

The LEAP assessment can be used to measure professionalism in virtually any job and in any vertical industry segment. According to Baker, the tool is most applicable to those employed in managerial positions and in job roles with significant responsibility -- such as pilots, medical personnel, first responders and engineers.

"Professionals can rely on many other instruments to measure strengths and weaknesses in job-related skills and ethical-related standards," said Baker. "LEAP is the first instrument that professionals and their employers can use to measure attitudes and behavioral predispositions most would consider immeasurable -- such as the importance of direct and honest communications, loyalty, observance of rules and regulations and respect."

"We believe this tool has significant applicability to any company looking to help its employees increase levels of professionalism, improve employee engagement and customer satisfaction, increase work quality and reduce error," said Marta Erhard, co-founder and president of Corvirtus. "LEAP is the latest example of how we work with a variety of partners to develop highly innovative assessment tools."
