Cote d'Azur Hotel Reaches Out to Its Community and Beyond in a Series of Charitable Events

CANNES, FRANCE--(Marketwired - Sep 27, 2013) - Cannes may be known for luxury and celebrity, but as the JW Marriott Cannes proves, there's a heart of gold beneath all that glitter. In the coming weeks, the hotel will participate in a trifecta of good causes that speak to its local community and the world at large.

First for this Cannes beachfront hotel is the 18^th-annual Pyramid of Shoes. Organized by Handicap International, the event collects shoes and signatures in efforts both symbolic and actionable to eradicate the presence of landmines and cluster bombs. This year, the hotel has teamed up with the City of Cannes to collect shoes and provide a complimentary meeting room for the press conference on October 9, 2013. On the actual event day, September 28, the hotel will serve breakfast for the 150 volunteers as well. This event is coordinated in cities throughout France and Europe, and has led, via more than 2 million collected signatures, to two successful treaties.

Staff from this hotel near the Nice Côte d'Azur Airport will participate in another locally beloved event on September 29: Le Raid Inter-Hôtels Côte d'Azur. More than 150 staff from hotels around the area compete in teams to navigate, run, kayak and climb their way through the Lérins Islands' Île Sainte-Marguerite. Spectators, meanwhile, can enjoy the stunning natural surroundings of Cannes, from French restaurants to beaches and shopping, while they wait to see who will win the race.
