Couchbase Introduces Inaugural Training Tour for Apache CouchDB

Five-City Training Tour of the Most Widely Deployed Open Source Document Database Kicks Off in the Bay Area in March

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - February 22, 2011) - Couchbase, the NoSQL database company created through the recent merger of CouchOne and Membase, announced an Apache CouchDB training tour that will span the US and Europe over the next few months. CouchDB is an open source document-oriented database written in the Erlang programming language. With more than 10 million desktop deployments worldwide, it is designed for local replication and scales horizontally across a wide range of devices including smartphones and tablets.

"By offering this specialized training, we're more excited than ever to help developers take their CouchDB skills to the next level and further integrate them into this amazing community of developers and users," said Damien Katz, CTO of Couchbase and creator of CouchDB.

Katz and Alan McKean, director of training at Couchbase and CouchDB committer, will deliver one- and two-day workshops that provide instructional and hands-on exercises that increase proficiency with CouchDB-based applications. The first training sessions will be offered in the Bay Area on March 14-15, followed by other major locations including New York, Austin, London and Berlin. The sessions accommodate users of various skill levels:

  • Introduction to CouchDB -- One day covering CouchDB development essentials including internals, API fundamentals, document basics and views.
  • Advanced CouchDB -- One day covering advanced CouchDB development including Map/Reduce, replication, consuming changes feeds and conflict management.
  • Comprehensive CouchDB -- Two days of training that will cover introductory development skills to advanced development capabilities.

Interested parties can register now for one- or two-day training.
