Couchio Becomes CouchOne and Launches CouchOne Mobile

Allows Developers to Write Web Applications One Time, Scale Vertically and Share Data and Applications Across Any Computing Platform or Mobile Device

OAKLAND, CA--(Marketwire - September 8, 2010) -  Couchio, the corporate sponsor of the CouchDB post-relational database, today announced its plan to re-brand the company as CouchOne (www.couchone.com) and introduce CouchOne Mobile -- an application development platform based on CouchDB and optimized for mobile devices.

"CouchDB solves a huge problem in mobile application development -- how to build web applications that run and synchronize with mobile devices. CouchDB lets developers write HTML5 applications one time, then easily run them and share data across mobile platforms and the cloud. One Couch platform runs them all," said Damien Katz creator of CouchDB and CEO of CouchOne. "Our new name and product mark the beginning of our commitment to porting CouchDB to as many mobile and network connected devices as possible. CouchDB is the file system of the HTML5 web."

CouchOne Mobile consists of an application platform complete with geo spatial and full-text indexing. CouchOne Mobile's lightweight architecture is optimized for native data store on any mobile device. With CouchOne Mobile, developers can easily write web applications one time, scale horizontally and share data and applications across any computing platform or mobile device they choose. CouchDB's replication and sync facilities allow developers to build web or native applications that work even if the Internet connection is slow, intermittent or completely down. Users of CouchOne Mobile benefit from more responsive applications and increased battery life.

CouchDB already integrates with Google's Android and Palm has announced webOS interoperability for syncing locally stored data. CouchDB's growing user base includes high-profile companies like the BBC and Mozilla. CouchDB is also the database behind Canonical's Ubuntu One cloud service, which supports more than 1.5 million users.

Participants of CouchOne's inaugural CouchCamp event will be able to attend a live demo of CouchOne Mobile on Sept. 8 - 10. For more information about CouchOne Mobile or CouchOne, please visit: www.couchone.com.
