Council of Canadians: UnBottle It! Speaking Tour on Growing Opposition to Bottled Water Comes to Sault Ste. Marie

SAULT STE. MARIE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 14, 2009) - A province-wide tour to encourage bans on bottled water in municipal and provincial facilities, sponsored by the Council of Canadians and CUPE Ontario, comes to Sault Ste. Marie on Wednesday, April 15. The four city speaking tour across northern Ontario features Maude Barlow, National Chairperson of the Council of Canadians and Senior Advisor on Water to the President of the UN General Assembly, and Sid Ryan, CUPE Ontario President.

The town hall meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. at Great Northern Resort, 229 Great Northern Road, Sault Ste. Marie.

The bottled water industry sells water - a shared public resource - for huge profits, undermining our faith in public water. The UnBottle It! speaking tour provides communities with the facts and calls on local governments, school boards community groups and individuals to tap into clean, safe public drinking water.
