Couple to Sail Pacific Ocean for Charity

They've Already Raised $75,000 for Their Cause

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - June 26, 2008) - On July 15, 2008, Garrett Caldwell and Lissa Bisson, aboard their Alameda, CA-based yacht, "Oceanaire," will embark on a 2070 mile extreme adventure sailing across the open ocean from San Francisco Bay to the Hawaiian Islands, to benefit the lives of domestic violence victims around the country. Many yachting challenges have captured the minds of the world's sailing community, but only a few racers have dared to accept the challenge of racing across the farthest expanse of ocean between any two points of land. This race, The Pacific Cup, has been named one of the most difficult sailboat races in the world.

The elite of the worldwide yacht racing community are not the only ones up to the challenge. Lissa and Garrett Caldwell will be sailing to benefit the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry's "Give Back a Smile" program. This non profit program helps individuals touched by domestic violence reclaim their lives, health, and self-esteem by repairing and restoring their smiles. The program has helped hundreds of people who might otherwise bear marks that last longer than scars or bruises. Dr. Wynn Okuda, founder of Give Back a Smile and past president of the AACD practices in Honolulu, HI and should be commended for his local and national efforts in this worthy cause. Dr. Okuda supports Mr. Caldwell in his efforts to increase awareness for this charity. For more information regarding this event please visit www.sailingforsmiles.org or the charity's website at http://www.aacd.com/foundation/gbasmission.asp.

Family and friends will be joining them on their yacht, July 5th at 1:00 pm for a Bon Voyage party and to see the boat and preparations necessary for this kind of open ocean race. This is a great opportunity for those who would like to learn more to tour the yacht and meet the crew. Their expected arrival date in Kaneohe Yacht Club, Oahu is Tuesday, July 29, 2008.

Garrett Caldwell, a US Merchant Marine officer and US Coast Guard Captain, has contemplated this challenge for many years, but decided to take the plunge this year when his wife, Lissa, realized what attention and support they could bring to this worthy cause by entering. They will be sailing to bring national attention to "Give Back a Smile" and their mission of giving survivors hope for a better tomorrow. They have already raised over $75,000, including $25,000 from Frontier Dental Laboratories, Inc., smile designers specializing in indirect all-ceramic restorations and full mouth reconstruction.
