Covanta to Construct First Scottish Energy From Waste Plant, an Industrial Info News Alert

GALWAY, IRELAND--(Marketwire - October 14, 2010) - Written by Martin Lynch, European News Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland) -- Covanta Energy (Kingswinford, England), part of Covanta Holding Corporation (NYSE:CVA) (Fairfield, New Jersey), has confirmed plans to construct a large-scale energy-from-waste facility near Glasgow in Scotland. The proposed Airdrie North Facility, located in Drumshangie, east of Glasgow, will use combined heat and power (CHP) technology to generate 24 megawatts of renewable electricity that will be exported to the national grid and is enough to power approximately 80,000 homes.
