Covario Named to Software 500 List of World's Largest Software Companies

San Diego Firm Makes the Annual Software Magazine Ranking for Second Year in a Row

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 3, 2011) - Covario, Inc., the nation's largest independent provider of global search marketing services and technology solutions, today announced its inclusion in Software Magazine's 29th annual Software 500 ranking of the world's largest software companies.

Covario made the list for the second year in a row at number 375, with software and related service revenues exceeding $22 million last year. The San Diego-based firm was also singled out for its 45 percent annual growth rate, placing it among the top 10 fastest-growing companies with revenues between $10 million and $30 million.

Covario provides a suite of proprietary SaaS (Software as a Solution) technologies to global enterprise marketers and their digital advertising agencies for organic and paid search management, auditing, reporting, optimization and implementation.

In addition to its SEO (search engine optimization) and SEM (search engine marketing) software solutions, Covario offers management systems for tracking social media performance and display advertising impact. The fast-growing, five-year-old firm has also developed a unique platform for cross-media attribution analysis that marketing executives use to access the effectiveness of all aspects of their media spend, including both online and traditional off-line advertising channels.

"The 2011 Software 500 results show that revenue growth in the software and services industry was healthy, with total Software 500 revenue of $541.5 billion worldwide for 2010, representing approximately 10 percent growth from the previous year," said John P. Desmond, editor of Software Magazine and

The Software 500 is a revenue-based ranking of the world's largest software and services suppliers, targeting medium to large enterprises. Some 27 percent of the companies on the 2011 list are privately held, including Covario, which was also just named to the Inc. 500/5000 list of the nation's fastest-growing private companies for the third consecutive year.

"Making the Software 500 for the second year in a row is a tribute to our blue-chip marketing clients and their agencies who garner immense ROI from our enterprise software solutions," said Russ Mann, chief executive of Covario. "We couldn't have achieved this without the dedicated efforts of our internal development, quality, and client services teams, who work incredibly hard, and smart, to ensure that we stay in the forefront with software upgrades and innovations that surpass our customers' expectations."

As "a reflection of the dynamic nature of the industry," Desmond said that more than 100 companies made the Software 500 for the first time in its 29 years. The ranking is based on total worldwide software and services revenue for 2010, encompassing revenue from software licenses, maintenance and support, training, and software-related services and consulting. The financial information was gathered through a survey by King Content Co. and from public documents.

The 2011 Software 500 will be available first by going online to and subscribing to the digital publication, where it will be initially distributed in late September.
