Covelli Enterprises/Panera Bread Pittsburgh Selected as Recipient of the Salvation Army 'Doing The Most Good' Award

PITTSBURGH, PA--(Marketwired - Nov 20, 2014) - Covelli Enterprises/Panera Bread Pittsburgh was selected by the Salvation Army as one of the 2014 "Doing The Most Good" award recipients. The honor was awarded to Covelli Enterprises/Panera Bread as a result of the company's generous support and charitable initiatives over the past years to the Salvation Army.

Covelli Enterprises, Franchisee of Panera Bread, led by its owner Sam Covelli, has a strong passion for giving back to the community. Last year alone, Covelli Enterprises donated over $19 million dollars to charity through monetary donations to non-profit organizations and food donations to local food banks.

Locally in the Pittsburgh market, Covelli Enterprises/Panera Bread donated close to $50,000 over the last few years to the Salvation Army WTAE TV's Project Bundle Up program. The Pittsburgh area Panera Bread Cafes have supported this program through Operation Dough-Nation, which collects spare change from guests in canisters at the café registers. Additionally, the Pittsburgh Panera cafes sold travel coffee mugs and offered free coffee refills in December 2013. A portion of every mug sold was donated to the Salvation Army and WTAE TV's Project Bundle Up.

"Our company is honored to be recognized by the Salvation Army," said Sam Covelli, Owner/Operator of Covelli Enterprises. "We thank our loyal customers of the Pittsburgh market for making it possible to continue to support local philanthropic initiatives year after year."
