ARLINGTON, Va.--(CCNMatthews - Mar 30, 2006) -

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), owner and organizer of GLOBALCOMM™, today announced the newest addition to its comprehensive speaker lineup - Cox Communications President Patrick J. Esser. Delivering one of the Tuesday, June 6 keynote addresses at GLOBALCOMM 2006, Esser will have the opportunity to address consolidation, competition and regulatory issues affecting Cox, its competitors and the industry.

GLOBALCOMM, the next-generation communications marketplace and summit, will be held June 4-8, 2006, at Chicago's McCormick Place. For TIA, GLOBALCOMM replaces SUPERCOMM® as TIA's annual industry event.

"Patrick Esser is one of our industry's leading visionaries and we are looking forward to gaining his insight into what's next for Cox and the industry," said TIA President Matthew J. Flanigan. "GLOBALCOMM's keynote speakers and extensive educational programming offer all attendees a glimpse into the complexities of the global information and communications technology (ICT) industry along with lessons on the realities of conducting business."

With more than 25 years of telecommunications industry experience, Esser has held a multitude of responsibilities while at Cox. He joined the company in 1979 as director of programming for the system in Hampton Roads, Va., and in 1981 was part of the original management team that pioneered Cox's local advertising sales division, CableRep Advertising (now Cox Media).

Esser's numerous accomplishments have been recognized throughout the industry. He is a recipient of the Cable Television Advertising Bureau President's Award, recognizing his significant contributions to the growth of cable advertising sales. He serves as chair of the board of directors for the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing Educational Foundation, and sits on the boards of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association, C-SPAN, CableLabs and Cable in the Classroom. Additionally, he is a member of the Cable Television Public Affairs Association Board of Advisors.

GLOBALCOMM 2006 will feature 450 exhibiting companies, free keynote addresses and panels, paid conferences by the International Engineering Consortium, Light Reading/CMP Media, Telephony and other organizations, and co-location with OSP EXPO, the Outside Plant Exposition and Conference.
