CPA Provides Travel Time Information for Customers

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - May 15, 2014) -

The Calgary Parking Authority (CPA) now offers real-time travel information in six of its seven parkades. The travel time information screens are refreshed every 30 seconds and provide customers with estimated commute times to select key intersections in Calgary in green, yellow or red text that reflects congestion levels - red text means heavy volume and expected delays.

"Before our customers even leave our facilities, they will have up-to-the-minute information that will help them plan their commute home or wherever their next destination might be," said Troy McLeod, CPA General Manager. "We are focused on providing the best parking experience possible and making use of leading technology to offer this new service."

The digital travel information screens can be found at the exit-ways of the McDougall, Centennial, City Centre, James Short, Convention Centre and City Hall parkades and look like the image below.

In addition, the CPA provides traffic related information, such as accidents and congestion maps that are displayed on screens mounted within our parkade lobbies.

The Calgary Parking Authority is a proud partner of The City of Calgary and is committed to managing publicly-owned on- and off-street parking facilities on The City's behalf. In addition, we manage the municipal parking enforcement program and provide parking advisory services.

Every dollar we collect that exceeds our operational costs is returned to The City of Calgary. Last year we returned more than $2M each month to the municipal general revenue program which funds projects such as recreation centres and pathways and provides funding for community services and public safety programs. The CPA operates without using any municipal tax revenues.
