Cradle Technologies Named EDN 2005 Innovation Awards Winner

Readers, the EDN Editorial Advisory Board, and the EDN Editorial Staff Choose Cradle as Winner in the Processors Category for Their CT3600 MDSP

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 11, 2006 -- Cradle Technologies, a fabless semiconductor company providing Multi-core DSPs (MDSPs) for video and imaging systems, today announced that it has been selected from a strong suite of candidates as the winner of the EDN 2005 Innovation Award in the Processors category. To be eligible for the award, nominees must have demonstrated innovation that resulted in a significant advance in technology and/or product development and must have shipped in volume in the 2005 calendar year. One of three finalists in the Processors category, Cradle won over Texas Instruments and Freescale Semiconductor.

"We have been committed to providing leading-edge solutions for the media-processing industry," said Patrick Soheili, President and CEO at Cradle Technologies. "Cradle has been known among its customers and partners for its innovative heterogeneous multi-core architecture. Having this technology recognized by a much respected organization such as EDN through its Innovation Award, especially against stiff competition from some of the larger processor companies in the industry, is a testimony to our leadership role in multi-core processor development."

The winning product, the CT3600 MDSP family, comprises a wide range of price and performance for the rapidly expanding video-surveillance market including applications such as IP cameras and streamers, network video recorders (NVRs) and multi-channel digital video recorders (DVRs). In addition the CT3600 family addresses the performance and integration requirements of the high-performance imaging market, including multi-function printer and scanner products, film processing equipment and machine-vision systems. Other target media-processing applications include digital video broadcast, IP TV, Video-on-Demand, media streaming, and transcoding. Cradle's MDSP chips combine high-performance silicon platforms with multiple DSP and general-purpose processor (GPP) cores along with a flexible and easy to use development and debugging tool suite. This comprehensive development toolset allows designers to accelerate their media-processing product development and more fully take advantage of innovative processing algorithms.

"As our winners demonstrated again this year, innovation is evident everywhere from components to ICs to software and the most complex test gear," said EDN Editor-in-Chief Maury Wright. "I feel privileged to work in electronics and witness engineers that are perpetually driven to innovate. It is their determination and creativity that we honor when we choose the best of the best to take home the EDN Innovation award."
