CRC Health Group Announces Launch of Wellspring at Structure House: Hybrid Program Showcases Best Practices in Weight Management and Long-Term Lifestyle Techniques

The Popular and Successful Wellspring and Structure House Programs Merge to Create a Best of Breed Weight-Loss Scenario

CUPERTINO, CA--(Marketwire - Jan 31, 2012) - CRC Health Group, the nation's largest provider of addiction treatment and behavioral health services, announced today that they are introducing a new weight management program, Wellspring at Structure House. This comprehensive approach to weight management merges elements of the well-known Wellspring and Structure House programs. The most successful components of Wellspring -- the program targeted to help adolescents with weight loss and featured in Style Network's "Too Fat for 15," and Structure House -- a program for adults only and featured on television including the Dr. Phil show, are now merged to offer an up-to-date, highly-effective program that introduces a continuing line of support through every stage of life.

"Wellspring and Structure House rely on a scientifically based approach to help people focus on a low fat but delicious eating plan, a high level of activity, and a positive optimistic attitude that leads to long-term success. Individually, both programs also recognize the importance of developing self-monitoring skills and provide the opportunity to enhance those skills while in the program," said Dr. Daniel Kirschenbaum, a professor at Northwestern University and President of Wellspring. "By blending elements of both, the new program strengthens its focus on cognitive- behavioral therapy to help participants sharpen their self-regulatory skills, including improving problem solving abilities that promote a healthier lifestyle."

Structure House, an internationally recognized residential weight loss center based in Durham, North Carolina, integrates principles of nutrition and exercise with psychology in a treatment approach designed to transform the eating habits and lifestyles of overweight individuals. This unique approach has helped more than 30,000 people from across the United States and 35 nations around the world battle obesity since 1977.

"Combining the two programs underscores the recognition that weight control actually covers the entire span of life," said Gerard J. Musante, Ph.D, founder of Structure House. "Creating this partnership of Wellspring and Structure House has the potential of challenging current thinking in an effort to learn about the possibilities for change and the life-long skills that can make that change possible."

Wellspring at Structure House's focus will approach the mind, body and spirit in a new way by reinforcing cognitive therapeutic solutions to weight loss issues. Updated options at the new Wellspring at Structure House include new culinary experiences by professional chefs, more than 50 exercise classes, new spa treatments and clinical therapies to help clients master the proven steps for living a healthy lifestyle with sustainable results that do not end when they return home. The program can be booked for a week at a time, but clinicians at Wellspring at Structure House suggest a minimum of a four-week stay for optimal results.

"At Wellspring and Structure House, our staff prides itself on keeping abreast of the latest studies and weight management resources so that our program participants can be as successful as possible when they return home," shared Candance Henderson-Grice, MS, President, Weight Management and Eating Disorder Division, CRC Health Group. "By fusing the youthfulness of Wellspring with the deep knowledge of Structure House, we ensure the new hybrid program reflects the needs of society today while staying true to the principles each program was built on."

The new program is open to alumni and new members starting February 1, 2012.
