Creative Colors International Advises Drivers to Protect Their Investment During Fall Car Care Month

Winter Can Be Hazardous to Your Car's Interior

MOKENA, IL--(Marketwire - September 23, 2010) -  October is Fall Car Care Month, and drivers nationwide will take advantage of free vehicle inspections and check-ups to prepare their cars for the chills and challenges of winter driving. Restoration services specialist Creative Colors International says that this is also the perfect time to think about your car's interior maintenance.

According to the Car Care Council, the average price of a vehicle now exceeds $30,000 for the first time ever. That means that, after your home, your vehicle is probably your biggest investment. "It just makes good financial sense to protect that investment," says Mark J. Bollman, president of Creative Colors International, "especially in today's economy." And, taking care of damage to your car's interior right away can save you money down the road, Bollman adds. "When you have small tears in your vehicle seats repaired before they turn into longer, deeper tears, you avoid more expensive repair bills."

For many drivers, preparing their vehicles for winter means engine and tire check-ups and making sure that the ice scraper is handy. And, these are important steps to take. But, there are other, equally important steps you can take to protect your car's interior from winter's damage. Creative Colors International offers these suggestions:

  • Protect your vehicle's carpeting. The change of season brings leaves, ice, salt, snow and chemicals that cling to your shoes and boots and can soil or damage your car's carpeting. Consider replacing your standard car floor mats with heavier duty mats for the winter driving season.

  • Protect your vehicle's seats. Wet coats, scarves, hats and gloves can stain and damage a car's leather or vinyl interior. The car care professionals at Creative Colors International can apply protective cleaning and conditioning products correctly so they don't clog the pores in your leather seats, causing them to lose their ability to allow air in and moisture out.

  • Don't forget the details! Treat your car to a full interior detail job at the beginning of each driving season to keep seats, dashboards and interior finishes looking showroom fresh.

"Keeping your car in top condition, inside and out, can make a real difference when you're ready to trade it in or sell it," states Bollman. "If an appraiser rates your car as 'clean,' it may be worth twice as much as the identical car in shabby condition."
