Creative Minds in Digital Health Gather for the Second Annual INTERFACE 2013 Summit

Strong speaker line-up discuss health IT, digital health and the future of medicine

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Oct. 7, 2013) - Starting October 9, 2013, Sanotron will hold its second annual INTERFACE 2013 International Digital Health Summit at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The three-day conference is designed to engage creative minds in digital health from around the world. The event will be comprised of registrants who have an interest in health IT, digital health and the future of medicine. The summit will feature keynote speeches, breakout sessions and other presentations by international thought leaders in these fields. This year's theme is the Future of Health: Smartphones, wearable health technology, sensors and big data.

"This year's conference will offer an incredible speaker line-up, a fresh and innovative agenda, and networking opportunities for the health and technology sectors that didn't previously exist," said executive producer Michael Bidu. "My vision is to make INTERFACE a global event and to transform Vancouver into Canada's capital of digital health innovation. We truly believe that with this impressive gathering of the minds, we can make healthcare better."

INTERFACE 2013 will feature more than 40 speakers and panelists, along with 20 of the most innovative digital health and wellness companies in North America. Notable speakers include Dr. Douglas Clement from the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, Dr. Steven Steinhubl from Scripps Translational Science Institute, and Don Jones from Qualcomm Life.

Attendees can look forward to keynote speeches on exciting topics such as a nano pill that travels through the bloodstream transmitting signals via a mobile app; video games that make healthcare both fun and functional for sick children; a digital tablet designed to engage seniors in technology, which is also monitoring their health; and tele-health for remote populations in Northern Canada, among others.

"Global demand for health technologies is growing and B.C.'s digital health innovators are quickly emerging on the world stage," said Teresa Wat, Minister of International Trade and Minister Responsible for Asia Pacific Strategy and Multiculturalism. "Through our trade and investment network, strategically located in Asia, Europe and the United States, our government is connecting B.C. businesses with international opportunities."

Among the many opportunities to connect with some of the brightest minds in digital health, INTERFACE 2013 will include an International Partnering Forum supported by the B.C. Ministry of International Trade. Day 1 includes a Trade, Investment and Market Access Symposium, a World Innovation DEMO Day, a Venture Investment Forum, a Networking Marketplace and an Awards Show.
