Credit Card Cupid: Making the Most of Credit Cards for Valentine's Day

America's Credit Card Watchdog and CEO of NerdWallet Has Timely Tips

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - February 8, 2011) - After splurging on the holidays, Americans are still in a gift-giving mood as evident by a recent National Retail Federation survey that projects higher spending on the February 14 Valentine holiday.

Tim Chen, the founder and CEO of NerdWallet, says now is the time to let your credit card help you finance a holiday to remember. According to the NRF survey, the average person will spend $116.21 on Valentine's Day merchandise this year, up 11 percent over last year's $103.00, with total holiday spending expected to reach $15.7 billion.

"This means consumers have many opportunities to capitalize on the current offers and rewards that credit card companies are offering, whether they want to whisk their partner to a private retreat; treat his/her senses to an exquisite meal or let a diamond tell her it's forever," says Chen.

NerdWallet has compiled a list of current offers that will help consumers to romance the credit card for some truly great deals this Valentine's Day. If you're a member of any of these rewards programs, here's how much you can save:
