Crew Energy Inc. Comments on AESRD Press Release

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Sept. 19, 2013) - In response to the Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development ("Department") Press Release dated September 19, 2013, Crew Energy Inc. (TSX:CR) confirms it is in receipt of an enforcement order, dated September 12, 2013, to restore and reclaim a surface lease in the Suffield area of Alberta. The lease is approximately 600 metres from a ferruginous hawk nest built on a man-made structure (windmill). The regulated setback of an active nest is 1000 metres.

Crew practices sustainability and recognizes the importance of cultural, wildlife and environmental protection. In its predrilling assessments, Crew utilizes archaeologists, agrologists, and biologists as environmental auditors to ensure that Crew meets or exceeds all regulations with respect to culture, wildlife and the environment. The original assessment of the lease did not identify a hawk's nest within the setback prior to the lease construction in January 2013. Crew later identified that two hawks were nesting in the area and in the interest of protecting the hawk habitat, Crew shut-in the well on July 24, 2013 when it was producing approximately 12 barrels of oil per day. Crew plans to diligently work with the Department on the protection of the ferruginous hawk habitat in the area.
