Criminal Defence Solicitors' Charity Boxing Night Invites All Lawyers to Get in the Ring

LIVERPOOL, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - March 17, 2011) - The founders of a white collar charity boxing event have decided to open up the annual event to all lawyers this year. Historically, it has been confined to just criminal practitioners; however Scott Ewing and Marc King are inviting all lawyers to take part for this first time.

Ewing is the lead London partner of leading national criminal defence firm, David Phillips and Partners. Along with King, who is senior clerk at top criminal set, Carmelite Chambers, have run the annual charity boxing event every year since 2006.

Some of the top lawyers compete against each other in the ring for the event and in the process, raise some significant amounts of money for a variety of charities.

The event has steadily grown from 380 attendees in its first year, to 1,000 tickets selling out last year following a huge waiting list and within three weeks of ticket being available.

This year's event is planned for Friday 28th October 2011 at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel with tickets on sale right now and priced at £1,500 per table of 10, or £160 each for individual tickets. The charity has not yet been decided for this year, although it will involve children.

A spokesperson for criminal defence solicitors, David Phillips and Partners, comments: 'We are really looking forward to this year's event; it is always a fun and glamourous occasion so it promises to be a fantastic night. As last year's raised £84,500 we are even more excited to raise a total which will hopefully beat this!'

An astonishing £265,000 has been raised by the event since its launch in 2006, which has been split between charities including the Teenage Cancer Trust, SPARKS, the Bobby Moore Cancer Foundation, The Willow Foundation, Amir Khan's Gloves in the Community and Force Select.

Plenty of celebrities have also thrown their weight behind the project and amongst the champion boxers who have attended are John Conteh, Michael Watson, Jim McDonnell, Mickey Cantwell, Billy Schwer and trainers Terry Edwards, Enzo Calzaghe and John Rooney. Actors Max Beesley and Jamie Foreman. Footballers Charlie George and David Seaman and sports pundits Jimmy Hill, Jim Rosenthal and Clive Tyldesley have also attended.

It promises to be a night to remember, so in order to get your tickets now or if you think you could be one of the potential boxers in the ring, contact scottewing@dpp-law.com
