Crisp County Wins Excellence Award for Innovative Justice Information Sharing System

Implements Metatomix's Data Exchange-Enabling Solution to Automate Information Sharing for Warrants, Arrests, Bookings, and Jail Management

WALTHAM, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 2, 2007 -- Metatomix, Inc., a leading provider of justice information sharing solutions to state and local governments, today announced that Crisp County, Georgia has earned a 2007 County Excellence Award from the Association of County Commissioners Georgia (ACCG). The award honors the Crisp County Data Exchange project, an implementation of Metatomix's Judicial Data eXchange (JDX) product for Justice Information Exchange Model (JIEM©) information sharing initiatives.

This is the second year that the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) has teamed up with the magazine Georgia Trend to recognize those among the state's 159 counties doing a first-rate job in providing services for their residents. The award process also provides a forum for honorees to share the details of their accomplishments with others who may be seeking solutions to similar issues.

"We were awash in paper duplication," said Crisp County Commission Chair Ferrell Henry. "From the magistrate to the sheriff's office to the clerk of court, whenever you're trying to put together a case, it is very difficult if the parties are dealing with the same information. A typographical error, whether it's the misspelling of a name, the transposing of a number or a misplaced comma, any of those things can make a disconnect. This is not a new problem and it's not unique to Georgia."

The goal of the project is to share information electronically among the criminal justice agencies in the Cordele Judicial Circuit in Georgia, which comprises Crisp, Ben Hill, Wilcox and Dooly counties. Criminal Justice Data Integration improves the accuracy of criminal justice records. Notably, it also greatly enhances the efficiency and speed of the criminal justice process by allowing each agency to maximize its resources.

"This [new system] eliminated duplicate data entry, including errors, delays in timely decisions and wasted personnel time, while providing knowledge about cases that was not previously known," according to Crisp County's Clerk of Superior Court, Jean Rogers. "We will be presenting this to the executive branch and the legislative branch very soon."

"We're proud that the Crisp County Data Exchange Project has been recognized," said Metatomix Co-Founder and CFO Tim Cunningham. "The acknowledgment of Crisp County's contribution to the overall improvement of Justice Information Sharing is a cost-effective project that's making a direct, positive impact on the quality of life for their citizens."
