Cross Border Showcase Travel Program Welcomes Canadians Into Upstate New York

Program Helps Visitors Plan Their Trip to NY, Works With Partner Destinations and Attractions

ROCHESTER, NY--(Marketwired - Jun 29, 2016) -  Tourism destinations and attractions in Upstate New York have announced the start of a 2016-2017 Cross Border Showcase Program -- aimed at encouraging Canadians to travel across the border and explore New York State. The program is comprised of partners including accommodations, shopping destinations, family and four-season recreational activities, communities and tourist-friendly businesses that offer deals specific to Canadian visitors.

The Cross Border Showcase program is offering a variety of new experiences for Canadians visiting Upstate New York. Visitors can explore outdoor wonders, taste their way through wine trails and craft beers, test their luck at a casino and so much more.

Partners in the Cross Border Showcase Program come in all shapes and sizes. Visitors looking for outdoor experiences will love exploring places like Chimney Bluffs, a one-of-kind glacial-made cliff on the edge of Lake Ontario; the "Grand Canyon of the East" Letchworth State Park; and the many gorges and waterfalls found in Ithaca, NY. Families with kids will enjoy a visit to Bristol Mountain Aerial Adventures, a ropes and adventure course weaving through the trees on Bristol Mountain.

Indoors, travelers can play their way through The Strong National Museum of Play, voted the #1 Travel Destination of 2016. Or, watch art unfold at the Corning Museum of Glass, stroll through history at the George Eastman House, or wiggle their way over to the JELL-O Museum.

Foodie travelers will love tasting their way through wine trails and craft beers in Upstate New York or taking a walk through the unparalleled Rochester Public Market. It won't take long to see why the Food Channel can't get enough of this region's unique classics.

In downtown Rochester, Canadians can find a little piece of home this week at the 15th annual Xerox Rochester International Jazz Fest, running now through July 2nd. Hear music talent from all over the world, enjoy the best food trucks Rochester has to offer, and enjoy those hometown sounds with the new Oh, Canada! Series, featuring nine bands from Canada.

Through the Cross Border Showcase Program, travelers can find the best spots to visit in the state of New York. Suggestions for dining locations, accommodations, shopping (with New York's lower sales tax), indoor and outdoor fun can be found online at www.crossbordershowcase.com. In addition to these suggestions, articles, tips and travel information will also help plan a trip along with special offers and events, which change seasonally.

The Cross Border Showcase travel program encourages and entices Canadian visitors to explore deeper into New York State. The program showcases a unique collection of attractions and experiences that are all comfortably within driving distance from the Canadian border -- beginning in Western New York, Rochester and the Finger Lakes region to well into Central and Northern New York. The program's partners include accommodations, shopping destinations, family and four-season recreational activities, communities and tourist-friendly businesses. Many of the partners offer discounts for Canadian visitors. Current offers, information and destinations can be found at www.CrossBorderShowcase.com and by following the program's Twitter or Facebook.
