Crossroads Releases ReadVerify Appliance (RVA) 4.0

RVA 4.0 Supports VMware ESXi 4.1

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwire - Apr 26, 2011) - Crossroads Systems, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: CRDS) today announces ReadVerify Appliance (RVA) 4.0, the latest edition of its standalone appliance that saves organizations time and money by proactively validating the integrity of tape library systems.

The release of RVA 4.0 marks the availability of RVA software for VMware ESXi 4.1 virtual environments. By helping to maximize the use of both existing storage and server resources, RVA 4.0 improves tape system efficiency in virtual environments as it has as an actual physical appliance. Increased system reliability translates into real savings by eliminating unplanned recoveries due to backup failures, optimizing the use of existing resources, and ensuring all data is recoverable.

"With money savings as one of the key reasons for deploying virtualized environments, it only makes sense to get the most out of its associated storage resources," said Elaine Pleshek, senior product manager at Crossroads Systems. "After all, tape systems represent a major investment in corporate data centers, and effective monitoring is key to cost management. RVA 4.0 allows organizations to monitor and manage the way in which they backup and archive data on their equipment running in a virtual environment."

In addition to support for VMware ESXi, RVA 4.0 also enhances support for its unique, optional ArchiveVerify feature. Many organizations use off-site facilities as part of their disaster recovery plan, but they are uncertain if data will be readable in the event of an emergency. ArchiveVerify now sends reports to storage administrators to inform them when tapes are scheduled for verification, based on their corporate policies, so that tapes can be brought back into the library for verification. Addressing both disaster recovery and regulatory compliance needs, RVA saves times and money by automatically notifying administrators that their tapes are due to be checked.
