BONNER SPRINGS, KS--(Marketwired - Aug 27, 2014) - Crum's Heirlooms LLC -- a grower of high quality, organically-grown vegetables and herbs for sale to leading restaurants and farmers' markets along the Kansas/Missouri border -- has been honored with their selection as the first-ever Kansas farm chosen to host an Outstanding In The Field (OITF) gourmet dinner.
OITF is a culinary organization founded in 1999 that specializes in reconnecting diners to the land and the origins of the food they eat, and its annual series of local farm dinners throughout the United States honors the local farmers and the food artisans who cultivate it. Each dinner is usually held outdoors in the farm's growing fields where guests can actually see the source of the produce on which they feast. Dinners are prepared by well-known local gourmet chefs and feature wine pairings with each course.
The 2014 dinner, to be held at the Crum's Heirlooms farm here on Tuesday, October 7, will be prepared by Ted Habiger, chef at Room 39 in Kansas City. The day's events will begin at 2:00 p.m. and will include a wine tasting and a tour of the farm prior to opening dinner ceremonies, which begin at 3:30 p.m. As many as 130 guests are anticipated for the dinner, which will conclude with a salute to Chef Ted Habiger and his kitchen staff as well as to Deb and Jim Crum, owners of Crum's Heirlooms.
