Cryobanks International Goes Green With Paperless Marketing Initiative

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL--(Marketwire - July 11, 2008) - Cryobanks International, Inc., a leader in the collection, processing, and banking of umbilical cord blood, is taking a positive step toward becoming more environmentally friendly by offering "green" marketing solutions for its cord blood private storage and public donation services.

Cryobank believes that by going as paperless as possible the company will play its part in helping to reduce the amount of paper it consumes to market its services. According to Sam Martin in his 2008 article "Paper Chase" at (, nearly 4 billion trees worldwide are cut down each year for paper, representing about 35% of all harvested trees. The U.S., which represents only 5% of the world's population, uses 30% of all paper with each person using 749 pounds of paper every year!

"The harvesting of forests for paper to print and mail marketing materials is no longer necessary. We will use electronic marketing materials and replace a large amount of paper we typically send out," commented Legna Peña, marketing coordinator for Cryobanks International. "Companies in all industries are becoming more environmentally conscious and we need to do our part wherever we can," Ms. Peña continued.

"We believe we are the first company in our industry to take positive action in helping preserve our ecosystem. It may be a small step, but we encourage other cord blood companies to participate in some way. A number of small steps will eventually add up to a big one," said Robert Gravely, Cryobanks chief operating officer.

To meet this challenge Cryobanks will be using electronic versions of its marketing material to educate visitors. The company will make its marketing information available on its website and send it via email. In those cases where "real" paper marketing materials are requested the company will use recycled paper and printing materials.
