WALNUT CREEK, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 26, 2011) - CSE Insurance Group, in partnership with the San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs' Foundation, are hosting a 2011 Teachers Appreciation Event at the Colma, Calif., Target store this Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, from 7 to 10 a.m.
One hundred well-deserving teachers selected from a vast pool of Northern California nominations are attending the event where they will receive a $200 gift card from Target. They will then shop with a deputy sheriff for classroom supplies at this special one-day shopping event at the Target store, located at 5001 Junipero Serra Blvd., Colma, CA 94014.
Teachers from across Northern California will converge at the Target store in Colma to attend the kick-off of the event. The brief welcome ceremony, at 7 a.m., will feature comments from Helen Fisicaro, the mayor of Colma; Matt Hall, vice president at CSE Insurance Group; and Shedrick McDaniels, vice president of the San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs' Foundation. The teachers shopping spree will follow the welcome ceremony, with deputy sheriffs escorting teachers through the Target store to purchase school supplies. To keep the teachers energized, Eat le Truc of San Francisco will serve healthy breakfast bowls in back-to-school style on its converted school bus.
The San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs' Foundation is providing buses from several central locations throughout the Bay Area so teachers who need transportation can attend the event.
Due to overwhelming response from Bay Area educators, the Colma Target store will also be giving away $20 gift cards to the first 100 teachers who show up on the day of the event. All teachers need to do is show either their teacher's union card or school ID at the CSE booth (located outside the Target entrance on the morning of the event). The remaining teachers who attend will receive T-shirts and tote bags, provided by CSE Insurance Group (while supplies last).
"CSE Insurance Group and the San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs' Foundation recognize the amazing job teachers are doing, despite the current financial state of emergency in California's schools," said Pierre Bize, president and CEO of CSE Insurance Group. "We could no longer sit back without taking action to give back to the California teachers who give so much of themselves, yet still have to open their own wallets to provide the kind of quality education our children deserve."
"With 174 districts in California teetering on the financial brink, it's more critical than ever that the general public and public foundations support the incredible efforts our teachers are achieving despite constantly shrinking budgets and larger classroom size," said David Wong, president of the San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs' Foundation.
