CTI Industries Corporation Receives Design Excellence Award for Patient Transfer Product


LAKE BARRINGTON, IL--(Marketwire - Sep 28, 2011) - CTI Industries Corporation (NASDAQ: CTIB), a manufacturer and marketer of packaging and storage bags and pouches, metalized balloons, latex balloons, novelty items and printed and laminated films, today announced that CTI and Stryker Corporation, a medical technology firm, have received a gold International Design Excellence Award at the International Design Excellence Awards '11 contest sponsored by the Industrial Designers Society of America for their design and development of the disposable Speed-Sheet™ device for transferring or repositioning a patient. The device consists of two sheets of custom-laminated film which lie under the patient and operate as a low-friction transfer aid when the patient is transferred to another surface. Stryker's emergency medical services department and CTI designed and customized materials, fabrication and embossing structures and the manufacturing equipment. The product is manufactured by CTI and marketed by Stryker.
