CTT Group Receives Funding from Government of Canada for Equipment to Develop Technical Textiles

SAINT-HYACINTHE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - June 17, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced the awarding of $331,650 in non-repayable financial assistance to CTT Group.

"Canada Economic Development is proud to support this CTT Group project, which will give the organization's clients access to leading-edge equipment to develop state-of-the-art textiles or break in to new markets," explained Minister Lebel.

The non-profit organization will use this funding, granted through Canada Economic Development's Business and Regional Growth program, to purchase technical textile design and analysis equipment, including two weaving looms and an ionic chromatographer. These machines will serve to develop advanced fabrics for the transportation sector and other fields requiring protective gear, such as firefighting and the armed forces.

CTT Group is a college technology transfer centre affiliated with Saint-Hyacinthe CEGEP. The organization supports applied research and offers a variety of technical, business and computer assistance to enterprises operating in the textile, geosynthetic and polymer industries.
