CUETS and Canadian Cancer Society: New Charitable Giving Option Signals Change in Loyalty Programs

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(CCNMatthews - June 10, 2005) - CUETS is pleased to announce the introduction of an important new redemptions option to its popular MasterCard-based loyalty program, CHOICE REWARDS. Effective June 14, 2005, cardholders will be given the added option of donating the points they earn to the Canadian Cancer Society, while receiving a corresponding charitable donation receipt.

Members of the media are invited to join special guests at the official launch of the program Tuesday, June 14th, 1:30 pm in the cafeteria of SaskCentral, 2055 Albert Street, Regina.

"Based on current CHOICE REWARDS participation of approximately 240,000 Canadians and the growing consumer interest in charitable giving within points programs, the new option offers great potential to raise much needed funds for charitable organizations - approximately $100,000 - $250,000 annually within three to five years," predicts Stan Kuss, CUETS Chief Executive Officer. "The Canadian Cancer Society is the first of a select few national charitable organizations that will be included in this initiative."

"We believe incorporating the charitable giving option into our points program is a logical next step in our community care program, and we're pleased to begin this work with an organization that we are so familiar with," explains Kuss. "CUETS and its employees have been major supporters of the Canadian Cancer Society for several years, just recently raising almost $40,000 for cancer research by participating in the annual Relay For Life events in Regina and Winnipeg. The charitable giving option is another way we can help the Canadian Cancer Society, at the same time providing a greater range of choices to hundreds of thousands of cardholders across Canada."

"We are very pleased that CUETS is giving its customers the opportunity to support the Canadian Cancer Society through this new program," says Dr. Barbara Whylie, Chief Executive Officer, Canadian Cancer Society. "Through the generosity of CUETS and its customers, the Society will continue to make a difference in the fight against cancer by funding groundbreaking research, providing valuable support and information programs and advocating for healthy lifestyle public policies."

How the Charitable Giving Option Works:

- CHOICE REWARDS MasterCard cardholders can use their card at any one of 24 million locations worldwide.

- Cardholders earn corresponding points for each purchase, building their CHOICE REWARDS points balance at the rate of one point for every $1 or $2 spent, depending on the card product they selected.

- Cardholders can donate points to the Canadian Cancer Society by calling the MasterCard Service Centre toll-free, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A minimum of 2,500 points (equating to a $25 donation) may be donated at any one time.

- The Canadian Cancer Society will issue corresponding charitable receipts twice a year (August and January).
