CUETS: Outstanding SJHL Hockey Players Recognized for Community Leadership

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 14, 2006) - CHOICE REWARDS®, along with Cornerstone Credit Union, is proud to announce Justin Menke as the Yorkton Terriers' recipient of the Credit Union MasterCard® Community Leadership Award. The 20-year-old Shamrock, Saskatchewan product received the award today at a luncheon held in Yorkton to announce the team's award recipient.

Menke is in his third year with the Yorkton Terriers. He has displayed outstanding community leadership through involvement with after-school programming at a local elementary school, the chapel program, the Terry Fox Run and the Salvation Army Kettle program. As captain of the Yorkton Terriers, his exemplary leadership skills, both on and off the ice, have contributed greatly to the success of the team.

The award is part of a partnership between CHOICE REWARDS and the SJHL, and will be presented to two players from each of the SJHL's 12 franchises throughout the season.

SJHL president Laury Ryan is pleased with the league's partnership with CHOICE REWARDS and Saskatchewan credit unions. "The inventories (of the partnership) and the Community Leadership Award program fit well with the SJHL's mission statement," commented Ryan. "We welcome CUETS® (owner of the CHOICE REWARDS program) to our strong partnership list, and we look forward to growing together in all SJHL communities."

Kevin Lukey, chief executive officer of Cornerstone Credit Union, sees the players' efforts closely related to those of their organization. "Cornerstone Credit Union strives for a community-first mentality, and we are very proud to recognize an individual such as Justin, who has worked so diligently to be a positive role model within our community."

Sandi Bergen, executive vice president for growth and development, and chief growth officer for CUETS, sees the partnership and award as a good fit for CUETS because it provides a means to give back to cardholders in SJHL communities. "CUETS believes strongly in being a strong corporate citizen through community involvement," said Bergen. "With the CHOICE REWARDS program offered on the majority of our Credit Union MasterCard products, the award is a great way to associate our brand with individuals that hold the same strong community values."

Credit Union MasterCard Community Leadership awards for the first half of the season will be presented in SJHL communities throughout the remainder of December and into early January. Awards for the second half of the season will be awarded in February.
