Cult Film Hit "Raid" Makes U.S. TV Premiere on MHz

Finnish Mystery Headlines International Mystery Festival

FALLS CHURCH, VA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 24, 2005 -- Fresh from a sold-out run at the American Film Institute, the Finnish thriller "Raid" will make its U.S. television debut on MHz NETWORKS on Saturday, October 29 at 8 PM. The film is part of a four-night festival on MHz showcasing the best in murder mysteries from around the world. The feature-length movie version of "Raid" has been the top-requested film in the five-year history of the Series. MHz's "International Mystery Festival" will air Thursday, October 27 through Sunday, October 30 at 8 PM.

"Sherlock Holmes" puts a Russian twist on the classic stories about Holmes and sidekick Watson. Based on a true story and directed by Tapio Piirainen, the award-winning "Raid" is full of eccentric characters and dark humor. Two perennial MHz favorites round out the Festival lineup: pipe-smoking supersleuth "Maigret" from France and hard-hitting Swedish copper Kurt Wallander from Sweden in "The Man Who Smiled." All films will broadcast in their original languages, with English subtitles.
