Cummins Top Sponsor of World LNG Fuels 2014

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwired - Oct 11, 2013) - Global engine manufacturer, Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI), will lead some 30 organizations in sponsoring World LNG Fuels 2014 at the Houston George R Brown Convention Center, Jan. 21-23. The three-day event features the latest advancements in fueling heavy-duty transportation and industry with natural gas, often in liquid form (LNG) to maximize storage density. Cummins offers gas-fueled engines ranging from 230 hp for light-duty fleets to 2,700 hp (2000 kW) for power plants.

The company projects that by 2020, nearly 30 percent of its high horsepower engine production will be gas fueled due to an increasing abundance of natural gas and relative low cost. Cummins currently is working to fuel its "Hedgehog" family of engines with natural gas, complementing the QSK95, a 95-liter engine unveiled in 2011 that will be the company's largest high-speed diesel. It also is developing an in-house 15-liter heavy-duty natural gas engine for on-highway applications, which is expected to be in production by 2016 to complement existing gas engines, including the ISX12G, the ISL G and ISB6.7G.

"Of all the transportation markets, though, natural gas has achieved the greatest penetration in oilfield services," said Bob Nimocks, chairman of the World LNG Fuels program committee and president of Zeus Development Corporation. "Already, some 5% of the 8,000 power units in North America are fueled with gas. That's up from zero in four years. We're thrilled Cummins will sponsor the event and host a tour of its Houston Oil & Gas Center of Excellence."

The tour will feature demonstrations of gas-fueled engines and displays of its engines-test facilities. Integrated power packages for drilling and hydraulic fracturing operations will be featured. The company also will display on the George R Brown exhibit floor gas-fueled units of its popular QSK50 with dual-fuel technology for well servicing and a QSK60G genset. Nearly a hundred companies involved in the rapidly growing LNG fuel industry are slated to exhibit.

Featured speakers during the event include legendary investor T. Boone Pickens; Doug Suttles, CEO, Encana Corp; Henrik Madsen, CEO, DNV GL; Andrew Littlefair, chairman and CEO, Clean Energy Fuels; and Richard Brown, president & CEO, Ferus Inc., among others.
