EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Jan. 29, 2013) - The President of the Alberta Division of the Canadian Union of Public Employees has pledged her support for 'Common Causes' a network of progressive activists looking for a change in direction on Aboriginal, environmental and democratic issues in Canada.
"We can't fight poverty without looking at the situation in our Native communities, and those issues are tied to the way we manage our environment, and the way the Harper government is stifling democratic debate in Canada," said Marle Roberts.
'Common Causes' was marked yesterday as a day of action on Aboriginal issues to bring pressure on parliament as it resumes.
More information on the movement can be found at www.commoncauses.ca and on Facebook (www.facebook.com/CommonCausesCausesCommunes) and Twitter (www.twitter.com/Common_Causes).
