CUPE BC Executive Board elects Paul Faoro President, Trevor Davies Secretary-Treasurer

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Dec. 10, 2015) - CUPE BC's Executive Board today elected Paul Faoro as President and Trevor Davies as Secretary-Treasurer. In addition, the Board elected Frank Lee as General Vice President. The elections were a result of former CUPE BC President Mark Hancock's resignation after his election last month as National President of CUPE.

"I want to thank all the members of our Executive Board for placing their confidence in me to take on this challenge," said Faoro. "I pledge to all 85,000 members of our union that I will not let you down.

"I also want to thank my good friend and brother, CUPE National President Mark Hancock, both for running our elections today, and for the leadership he has provided our union in B.C. for the past three years as our president."

"I'm looking forward to working with Paul and all the members of the board to continue moving our union forward," said Davies. "I also want to thank my colleagues on the Executive Board for their support."

All positions elected today are interim until CUPE BC's next Convention, when they will be up for re-election. CUPE BC's 53rd annual Convention will be held in Victoria, April 27-30, 2016.

CUPE BC is British Columbia's largest union, representing more than 85,000 workers across the province.
