CUPE GoBus drivers achieve first collective agreement

ST. JOHN'S, NEWFOUNDLAND--(Marketwired - July 19, 2013) - CUPE Local 5120, representing GoBus drivers in St. John's area, has achieved a first collective agreement.

The tentative agreement, which was ratified on July 18, includes a wage increase of $2.00 per hour over three (3) years.

"With this first collective agreement now resolved we are looking forward to a positive and productive relationship with the employer, MVT Canadian Bus Inc.," says CUPE National Representative Ed White.

"MVT Canadian Bus is very pleased an agreement was reached with its dedicated operators represented by CUPE Local 5120 and, most importantly, that the critical St. John's GoBus Accessible Transit service will continue without interruption," said Brian Balogh, Senior Vice President at MV.

CUPE NL President Wayne Lucas welcomes the 35 members of CUPE Local 5120 to the CUPE family. CUPE represents 6000 members in Newfoundland and Labrador and over 600,000 members Canada wide.
