CUPE Manitoba hosts a town hall meeting on employment insurance future

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwire - Sept. 6, 2012) - The Canadian Union of Public Employees of Manitoba (CUPE Manitoba) is hosting a town hall meeting on employment insurance future tonight in Winnipeg. A panel discussion on the state of the EI program and the changes implemented as a result of the federal budget cuts will be held. The work and resources of the Community Unemployed Help Centre will also be discussed.

The panel participants are Bill Sumerlus, CUPE regional director for Manitoba, Kevin Rebeck, president of the Manitoba Federation of Labour, Susan Norman, national vice-president of the Canadian Employment and Immigration Union, John Doyle, research and communication coordinator for the Manitoba Federation of Labour and worker representative on the Employment Insurance Commission's Board of Referees, Neil Cohen, executive director of the Community Unemployed Help Center.

Kelly Moist, CUPE Manitoba president, will be available to respond to media inquiries.
