CUPE: Media Advisory-Front-Line North Bay Workers to Rally for Better Long-Term Care

Rally for 3.5 hours of care, per person, per day on Monday, Feb. 23

NORTH BAY, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 23, 2009) - Front-line long-term care workers will rally in North Bay tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 23 for minimum care standards in Ontario's long-term care system.

WHAT: Rally for minimum care standards in Long-term Care

WHEN: Monday, Feb. 23, 2:30 PM

WHERE: On the sidewalk of the Casselhome Home for the Aged
Corner of Cassel & Olive, North Bay

Today's rally is part of the union's campaign for better long-term care. Recent funding increases for long-term care have not actually translated into more care, especially in the for-profit sector. What long-term care patients need is the accountability of a minimum standard of care of 3.5 hours per patient per day.

CUPE workers - and several research studies - have identified 3.5 hours of care as adequate, necessary, and fair.
