TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 27, 2009) - Due to the unique nature of Pride events tomorrow and the potential threat to public safety published in the Toronto Sun today, the Ontario Labour Relations Board has issued an order after consultation with Toronto Civic Employees Union Local 416 CUPE and the City of Toronto.

The board has ordered that:

The City may have up to the following number of transport ambulances staffed with Local 416 Paramedics for the period commencing 02:00 hours on Sunday, June 28, 2009, and ending at 07:00 hours on Monday, June 29, 2009. The specific units are as follows:

55 units at 02:00 hours on Sunday, June 28 and Monday, June 29

78 units at 14:00 hours on Sunday, June 28.

"All members of the Local 416 ambulance unit are expected to exercise professionalism and discipline by complying with this extension to our negotiated Essential Services Agreement," said Local 416 President Mark Ferguson.
