CUPE Welcomes Review of Braemore Home

SYDNEY, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 2, 2011) - The union representing frontline staff at Braemore Home in Sydney says it welcomes the announcement from the minister of community services that a program and operational review of the facility will take place.

CUPE National Representative Kathy MacLeod says, "We are pleased with the minister's decisive action on this file. The 120 CUPE members of Local 3513 have been wrongly tainted by recent events and we are hopeful that this will set the record straight."

CUPE Nova Scotia President Danny Cavanagh says, "We would also like to see this review look into the governance model of this facility, which we consider to be inadequate and outdated."

MacLeod says the union looks forward to giving its full cooperation to the facility review.
