I) Learn a Craft or Skill
Learn a skill that offers a smile-teasing stimulus, a wealth of knowledge, and crafty insights. Learn to felt a pair of mittens from soft alpaca wool, transform goats' milk into silky soap or cheese, nurture a beehive and harvest golden honey. Learn about butchering, hunting, blacksmithing, or canning vegetables.

II) Keep Moving and Get Fit
Improved fitness is one of the most commonly made New Year's resolutions. Hike in one of Colorado's 42 state parks or join Awe Struck Adventures and pedal your way to dinner on a farm; dip and dine on a raft trip, gather friends for Yoga and Horses, cycle and sip Colorado wines, or take a culinary tasting tour.

III) Discover Where your Food Comes From
Chefs and farmers are crafting crops and culinary techniques to enhance the nutrition, flavor and experience of eating local. Discover produce from an orchard, farm or market. Forage for wild plants and mushrooms. Spend the night at a ranch and wake up to fresh eggs, nickering horses and a glimpse of farm life. Discover regional culinary specialties: delicious burgers, artisan cheeses, farm-to-table restaurants, and urban food halls.

IV) Spend Time with Someone you Love
Make time for friends and family; emphasize quality over quantity; instead of counting hours, count memories. Drive a historic trail or scenic byway; dig for Jurassic dinosaur bones; enjoy a lesser-known museum, kick back at a dude ranch; or play "I spy" on a birding trail.

V) Try the Unusual
In 12 Habits of Highly Healthy People, right up there with adequate sleep is stepping out of your comfort zone. Sleep in a yurt; subscribe to an art CSA; breath history at a historic guest ranch; find clues at a murder mystery weekend; follow food from field to fork at a farm-to-table dinner; dine at a Colorado farm; or participate in a quirky festival.

Strict New Year's Resolutions are a thing of the past. What's on your bucket list for healthy, heartfelt and fulfilling experiences that open the mind, feed the body and nourish the soul? Indulge in the New Year ...Colorado style.
