Cutting-Edge Home Energy Management Service Launches First Regional Deployment in Dallas/Ft. Worth Metro

EcoFactor's Automated Energy Management System Saves Homeowners Hundreds of Dollars per Year on Heating & Cooling Costs

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - July 8, 2010) - A revolutionary, award-winning energy efficiency service is launching in Texas today, giving Dallas/Ft. Worth-area homeowners an opportunity to significantly reduce their energy usage and annual costs, while maintaining comfort. The service is being provided by EcoFactor as part of the "Take A Load Off, Texas" energy efficiency program sponsored by Oncor, with professional installations being provided by Service Experts. This makes the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex the first region to have access to EcoFactor's groundbreaking solution.

"Because our mission is to help Texans find ways to save money while reducing their energy usage, we recognize the need for a service like EcoFactor's," said Curt Seidlits, president and CEO of Texas is Hot, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Texans reduce their energy usage and save money. "The fact that the Dallas/Ft. Worth area has been selected as the first city to deploy this promising new technology is a momentous occasion for area residents and our community overall."

In pilots and trials worldwide since 2007, EcoFactor's solution has been shown to reduce energy use from air conditioning and heating by 20 to 30 percent. Given that more than 50 percent of the average energy bill for American homes is from space heating and cooling, the overall savings are significant. EcoFactor actively manages a home's heating and cooling system, constantly making slight adjustments in temperature based on weather conditions, occupant preferences and schedules, for optimal comfort and efficiency, but the consumer can always override the system's suggestions.

EcoFactor knows that while savings are a nearly universal priority, not everyone has the time or inclination to constantly manage their energy usage. EcoFactor's solution automatically makes small adjustments to a home's thermostat settings to cut down on energy spending and deliver savings, even while homeowners retain complete control over their thermostats. For consumers who are interested in monitoring or analyzing their energy usage, EcoFactor provides an extensive set of controls and reporting through an online portal that can be accessed from any Internet-enabled mobile phone or computer.

"Before EcoFactor we found that we were adjusting the thermostat a number of times per day, but now we can go days without even touching it," said EcoFactor pilot customer Craig Underwood. "Since we've had the solution, we've been totally comfortable and saved money. The only difference now is that we don't even have to think about the temperature in our home."

"We spent years building a solution that will effectively reduce energy usage and automatically save homeowners money, without sacrificing comfort, control or convenience," said John Steinberg, CEO of EcoFactor. "With a hot summer climate and a tech-savvy community, DFW is the ideal place to launch our service. Our partnership with Oncor has helped us make this service available to DFW residents in time for the summer season."

Homeowners interested in the service can go to to fill out an application. Service Experts, the largest retail home comfort service company in North America, will be installing EcoFactor-enabled thermostats in a simple in-home process.
