Cyan Continues to Lead Metro Ethernet Innovation With Multi-Vendor Management, SLA Assurance, and Protection Integration

Multi-Vendor Integration Gives Metro Ethernet Service Providers More Choices and a Competitive Edge in Delivering Business Ethernet, Wireless Backhaul, and Wholesale Ethernet Services

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Nov 7, 2011) - Ethernet Expo -- Extending the boundaries of metro Ethernet innovation, Cyan announced support for multi-vendor network management, service level agreement (SLA) assurance, and integrated Ethernet protection solutions at Light Reading's Ethernet Expo. Going beyond traditional service-level compatibility, enhancements to Cyan's CyMS and CyPortal software systems, and Z-Series Ethernet service modules provide highly integrated metro Ethernet solutions in combination with Accedian Networks, Overture Networks, and Telco Systems. Cyan's demonstrated commitment to multi-vendor solutions gives service providers the operational efficiency and rapid service delivery of a single-vendor solution while retaining the benefits of a multi-vendor network.

Optimizing For Metro Ethernet Simplicity, Functionality and Efficiency
Cyan's newest release (R3.2) of the Z-Series packet-optical transport platforms and Cyan 360 software and software-as-a-service (SaaS) systems introduce several new enhancements that further optimize Cyan's multi-vendor metro Ethernet solutions as part of a broader Service Level Aware Network. CyMS, Cyan's revolutionary multi-layer network management system, introduces support for multiple third-party devices. Select Ethernet NIDs and optical Ethernet products from CyAlliance partners Accedian Networks and Overture Networks are now integrated into CyMS to provide end-to-end visualization and alarm status in combination with Cyan's Z-Series network solutions.

"We're responding to our customers' requests to extend the power of visualization and fault correlation to include third party products," said Frank Wiener, vice president of marketing for Cyan. "By integrating these products into CyMS our customers can deploy best-in-class multi-vendor solutions and still enjoy operational simplicity as they expand their metro Ethernet capabilities with Cyan's Z-Series platforms."

Cyan's Ethernet solution has also been extended to multi-vendor Ethernet protection switching, with the addition of client-side support for ITU-T G.8032 Ethernet ring protection. Ethernet protection integration with Overture Networks UTS4000 Series optical Ethernet products empowers service providers to directly subtend linear tail circuits and collector rings from Cyan's Z-Series Ethernet service modules, without the traditional box-on-box configurations. The result is the elimination of hardware, reduction in the number of physical connections, and tighter management integration for improved performance, with decreased costs -- ultimately giving services providers a more competitive service offering.

Adding to Ethernet services differentiation, Cyan's revolutionary CyPortal, customer portal for SLA Assurance services, has been further enhanced to support CyAlliance partner Telco Systems T-Marc® demarcation devices, in addition to more than a half dozen products from other vendors. "CyPortal is proving to be a remarkably successful new SLA Assurance service for our customers," added Wiener. "Service providers can now give their customers real-time portal access to key SLA performance parameters such as latency, jitter, packet-loss ratios, throughput and availability. Since CyPortal's initial launch earlier this summer we've signed up more than two dozen service providers, which now range from initial trials to full-scale deployments with thousands of monitored services."

Cyan is continually signing up new CyPortal service provider customers and integration with new vendor products. Contact Cyan to learn more.
