Cyan to Host PTN Workshop on Multi-Layer Optimization

Responding to a Growing Interest in Multi-Layer Network Planning and Management, Cyan Will Conduct a Full Day Workshop in Combination With PTN 2011 in Barcelona

PETALUMA, CA--(Marketwire - March 29, 2011) - Cyan today announced that it will host a workshop on multi-layer optimization of packet transport networks, on April 4, 2011, in Barcelona, Spain. The workshop will immediately precede the Packet Transport Networks conference, of which Cyan is a Silver Sponsor. The purpose of the workshop is to give service providers better insight into the considerations and benefits of planning and managing transport networks concurrently across multiple layers.

Service providers globally are under increasing pressure to exponentially scale network capacity and simultaneously reduce the associated capital and operational costs. In addition, rapidly evolving service requirements mandate even greater levels of service performance. While packet transport is emerging as a critical requirement, Cyan will show operators how planning and managing historically separate packet service, packet transport, TDM transport and optical transport network layers as an integrated multi-layer network can achieve these objectives and lay a foundation to thrive in the emerging exponential era of communications.

"Multi-layer management concepts are emerging as a hot topic as the integration of packet and optical transport layers has evolved from concept to reality," said Frank Wiener, vice president of marketing and international sales, Cyan. "Cyan is a recognized thought-leader and solutions innovator in this space. We're delighted to bring together industry experts to explore the factors that will continue to propagate multiple technology layers in transport networks, and standards-based concepts for achieving optimal services performance with network efficiency and operational simplicity. Cyan will also showcase specific examples of what has already been achieved in the area of multi-layer planning, management and verification."

PTN 2011 and Cyan's Pre-Conference Workshop Logistics

The Packet Transport Networks conference will be held at the beautiful Hotel Rey Juan Carlos, April 5-6, 2011. Cyan will be hosting the Pre-Conference Workshop on Multi-Layer Optimization of Packet Transport Networks on April 4th, 2011. Registration begins at 9:00am, with the workshop starting at 9:30am and concluding at 4:30pm. Additional details are available at
