Cyan's CyNOC Services Accelerate the Introduction of New Services and Augment Operations for Increased Competitive Advantage

Broad Range of CyNOC Offerings Enables Service Providers to Quickly Expand Services, and Increase Operations Flexibility

PETALUMA, CA--(Marketwire - February 8, 2011) - Cyan today announced CyNOC, an advanced Network Operations Center (NOC) service that empowers service providers to introduce new network services and solutions. High-growth applications such as wireless backhaul, business Ethernet, data center connectivity, middle-mile broadband backhaul, and even wholesale transport are driving dramatic capacity expansions in service provider networks. However, the transition of packet-services from best-effort to more mission-critical services is driving rapidly changing service level agreement (SLA) requirements. The renewed focus on SLA requirements mandate new technologies and operational performance levels. Service provider operations personnel are often fully consumed with supporting existing services and networks, and are challenged to quickly introduce new products and technologies that are critical for a sustained competitive edge. Cyan's expert CyNOC engineers enable new services, with improved service level performance and enhanced operational efficiency.

Available in multiple tiers, CyNOC services range from an extension of customers' existing NOC personnel, to after-hours coverage, NOC redundancy, or fully customized turn-key NOC services. CyNOC services minimize the costs and more importantly accelerate the introduction of new services for competitive advantage.

"Service providers large and small are challenged to keep up with the rate of change of technologies and services," said Rick Johnston, vice president of business operations and customer service for Cyan. "CyNOC was developed specifically to minimize the burden of change, making change not only easier, but a competitive advantage for our customers. CyNOC brings the benefits of scalable resources to our customers in the form subject matter experts leveraging redundant cloud-based planning, management, and verification tools to operate networks anywhere in the world, with improved performance and operational efficiency."

With CyNOC services, experienced and trained Cyan engineers proactively monitor and manage service provider networks on a 7x24x365 basis for service providers across the USA and Europe. When problems do occur, CyNOC engineers are available to work in collaboration with existing NOC resources or to take the lead to quickly isolate issues and facilitate resolution, maximizing network uptime and the performance of critical SLAs. Initially launched to Cyan's customers in mid-2010, a wide variety of different service provider types utilize CyNOC services today, including regional carriers, rural LECs, wireless backhaul providers, data centers, and service providers undergoing major Broadband Stimulus network expansions, and their feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. CyNOC has proven so compelling that more than 60 percent of Cyan's customers signed since mid-2010 have subscribed to the service.

"Although we maintain our own carrier-class NOC, CyNOC services provide us an enhanced level of support that is both cost-effective and secure," said John Summersett, chief operating officer at Great Lakes Comnet (GLC). "It's critical for our business that GLC's customers have the most robust and reliable experience possible and CyNOC is helping us to deliver on that goal."

"Providing our customers with high reliability services while also balancing our operational costs is an important part of our business", said Kurt VanHoogstrate, VP of engineering and operations at InterCarrier Networks. "CyNOC services have become an extension of my company and it provides me fully redundant network monitoring and the ability to leverage the leading technical experts on my backbone transport infrastructure. The CyNOC technical team contacts us and is working with my operations team within minutes of any network event to ensure that we maintain the highest possible network availability for our customers in the most cost effective manner possible."

CyNOC is available in three tiers -- Standard, Enhanced and Premium -- to facilitate carrier class network management for Cyan's global service provider customers. CyNOC utilizes redundant links, multiple storage backup locations, a redundant NOC infrastructure and cloud-based technology to provide highly-reliable, uninterrupted monitoring capabilities.
