Cybersecurity Company GreatHorn Joins Techstars NYC Accelerator Program to Redefine Spear Phishing Prevention

BELMONT, MA--(Marketwired - Sep 24, 2015) - GreatHorn, the world's first cybersecurity platform for detecting and preventing the most common causes of data breaches -- spear phishing and credential theft -- announced today that they are participating in the Fall 2015 Techstars NYC program.

"Email is the dominant form of business communication today, but it's also the easiest way for criminals to gain access to sensitive data and steal it," said Kevin O'Brien, the company's CEO and co-founder. "Over 90% of all data theft begins with spear phishing; until now, companies have had no way to systematically identify and stop these increasingly sophisticated attacks. As the huge data breaches of the past few years show, reliance upon security awareness training alone is simply not good enough.

This is fundamentally a technology problem, and solving it requires a technological solution. Being accepted into the Techstars program is an incredible opportunity for us to do more faster, build on our existing customer adoption and traction, and arm CIOs and CISOs with the ability to truly automate their spear phishing and data breach prevention strategies."

Integrated with today's most commonly used email systems, including Google Apps and Office 365, GreatHorn automatically identifies and responds to suspicious email and authentication events, in real time and policy-driven response actions and compliance-ready reporting tools. With over 150,000 threats analyzed in the past two months alone, and multiple production deployments in companies ranging from HMOs to high-tech hardware startups, GreatHorn is uniquely able to analyze, detect, and act on threats before they result in data breaches.

"Health insurance companies are seeing more cyber attacks than ever before," notes Robert Chin, CIO of MA-based HMO Minuteman Health. "We take security very seriously, especially in light of this year's big breaches. GreatHorn is a critical part of our cyber defense, as they help us detect and stop the kinds of attacks that other solutions miss."

The GreatHorn Security Platform deploys in under an hour, requires no changes to email routing, and automatically tags threats through its continuous monitoring and remediation functionality. As a Techstars '15 company, the team will be focused on rapid growth and development through the end of December, culminating in the program's Demo Day on December 17 in New York City.
