CygNet's Steve Robb to Participate in Free Webinar on Making SCADA Part of the Pipeline Business Equation

CygNet VP of Business Development Addresses the Integration of SCADA Throughout the Enterprise

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA--(Marketwire - June 16, 2009) - CygNet Software, provider of the leading enterprise operations platform for the oil and gas industry, today announced that Steve Robb, CygNet's vice president of business development, will be a featured panelist on a free webinar, "Make Supervisory Control (SCADA) Part of the Pipeline Business Equation" (http://www.pipelineandgastechnology.com/webinar/ 20090618_scada/index.php). Offered as part of the Hart Webinar Series hosted by PipeLine and Gas Technology, the webinar is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. CDT.

The discussion will be moderated by Kevin Parker, executive editor at Pipeline and Gas Technology. Joining Robb on the panel will be Russ Novak, research director, enterprise at ARC, and Mark Brooks, principal solution consultant at Progress Software. Attendees can register at the Hart Webinar Series website. The webinar will also be available on demand following the live broadcast.

Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) is the required standard for gathering and analyzing real-time data in industrial applications, including oil and gas transmission pipelines. Today, however, SCADA's function is no longer singularly engineering-centric and is playing an increasingly important role in an IT infrastructure that must merge real-time data, business information, and third-party systems to support better operational, maintenance, and financial business decisions.

"Unfortunately, integrating existing SCADA systems with existing IT infrastructures has been complex and expensive as the merging of time-series information with transactional-oriented systems has failed to deliver real-time information throughout the enterprise," said Robb. "However, with the right approach and platform, including a model-driven integration approach and a messaging-based enterprise service bus, we can now simplify integration, and quickly and cost-effectively deliver precise real-time information to anyone throughout the organization who needs it."

Webinar participants will learn about:

-- The growing demand for and benefits of integration of SCADA with
    business systems
-- The advances in SCADA technology that increase the benefits of real-
    time information
-- A cost-effective means for integration of SCADA into the enterprise
