Cynthia McClain-Hill Delivers Commencement Address to West Los Angeles College's Class of 2008

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - June 10, 2008) - Downtown Los Angeles-based Strategic Counsel PLC, a law, public policy and strategic communications consulting firm, today announced that Managing Partner Cynthia McClain-Hill delivered the Commencement Address at the Fortieth Commencement Ceremony of West Los Angeles College last week. Ms. McClain-Hill, recognized for her commitment to education, emphasized focus and determination as essential character traits for future success -- in business, law, politics and life.

Ms. McClain-Hill leads Strategic Counsel's land use, environmental law and regulatory practice, representing clients engaged in significant real estate development efforts or other land use related matters. In addition, she provides counsel on a variety of public-private partnerships and works effectively with local governments, guiding the firm's clients through California's complex regulatory maze, while deftly anticipating and navigating the sophisticated legal issues that arise. She has written numerous articles on these subjects for a Real Estate Law special edition of the Los Angeles Daily Journal, Southern California's premier legal publication.

Recently, Ms. McClain-Hill deepened Strategic Counsel's relationships with influencers in the educational community with the addition of Lucy Okumu, previously director of external affairs and primary political and strategic advisor to the Los Angeles Unified School District, Superintendents Roy Romer and David Brewer, and the Honorable Angela J. Reddock, Esq., a sitting member of the Los Angeles Community College Board of Trustees. These professionals will serve Strategic Counsel's statewide portfolio of public policy and government affairs clients with an emphasis on post-secondary education, workforce development and employment and labor legal affairs.

Ms. McClain-Hill has received numerous awards and honors in recognition of her exemplary business and civic leadership. She received the National Association of Women Business Owners "2005 Chapter Public Policy Advocate of the Year" award, the U.S. Small Business Administration's "Women in Business Advocate Award," the first annual "Ruth Standish Baldwin Award" from the Greater Sacramento Urban League in 2004, and the "Thurgood Marshall Award" from Minorities in Business Magazine in 2003. In an annual survey of more than 65,000 of her peers, Ms. McClain-Hill is consistently named one of Southern California's "Super Lawyers," a distinction reserved for the top five percent of the state's practicing attorneys. In September 2007, she was featured in ESSENCE Magazine.
