Czarnowski Bridges Local Union and Convention Center to Foucs on Field Safety

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - October 27, 2014) - Czarnowski spearheaded another unprecedented effort in the name of field safety. On September 9 in Miami Beach, Florida, Czarnowski hosted two trade show field safety sessions for members of Sign and Display Local 1175 and employees of the Miami Beach Convention Center. This was the third time representatives from both a local union and a convention facility attended a joint training program.

"This was a first for our industry," says Alan 'Big Al' Lichtman, Miami's business representative for Sign and Display Local 1175. "Our mutual commitment to safety on the show floor is an extremely important motivation for getting venues, unions, and contractors together for this training program. We are thrilled to be a part of it."

"Safety is extremely important to us as a venue," says Angelo Grande, Director of Operations of the Miami Beach Convention Center. "The best way to create an environment where safety is the biggest priority is through proper training and by creating a team out of the parties most involved with and affected by this issue. Bringing the building staff, unions and contractors together to train is simply a great idea as it accomplishes both of these goals."

The sole focus of this safety program is injury and accident prevention. Started six years ago, the program continues to pick up momentum and expand the number and scope of participants. The sessions in Miami Beach, attended by 200 people, brought unions and convention center employees together for the third time to receive safety training.

"Czarnowski's primary goal for our field safety program is to welcome, engage and educate as many people as possible regardless of affiliation or location," says John O'Shea, Director of Field Operations for Czarnowski. "What happened in Miami Beach for the past three years is a testament to how far our industry has come and where we plan to go with field safety."

Content for the safety course is based on research pointing to the most critical and common safety issues encountered on the show floor today.

The program offers solutions to minimize, and ultimately eliminate, the potential for injury and accidents in the field. Course training is led by Frank Marino, Czarnowski's Director of Health and Safety, and includes the following topics: ladder safety, scaffolding safety, aerial lift safety, personal protection equipment and emergency action response planning.
