Daily Deal Sites an Attractive Option for Holiday Shoppers This Season, According to Eversave Survey

88 Percent of Consumers Surveyed Plan to Use or Are Considering Using Daily Deal Sites for Holiday Shopping This Year

WAKEFIELD, MA--(Marketwire - November 11, 2010) - Consumers are excited about the approaching holiday season, but still cautious about spending, raising the appeal of daily deal sites for holiday shopping this year. These are some of the top findings of a recent survey sponsored by Prospectiv, owner of Eversave.com, the second-biggest couponing website in America.

Eversave's 2010 Daily Deal Holiday Shopping Survey gathered responses from nearly 400 internet-savvy consumers who said they make purchases online at least once a month. Of that group, 77 percent said that they had used or heard of daily deal sites like Eversave, Groupon and Living Social. Eighty-eight percent surveyed said that they plan to use or would consider using daily deal sites for holiday shopping this year. A breakdown of these responses reveals the following:

  • 45 percent said that daily deal sites are "a good way to shop for holiday gifts while saving money"

  • 43 percent would consider using daily deal sites for gift giving this year

  • Only 13 percent surveyed said they won't be using daily deal sites for holiday shopping

Ninety-one percent surveyed said that they would personally appreciate receiving a voucher from a daily deal site as a gift.

Budget-Conscious Holiday Shoppers Seeking Unique Deals for Gift Giving

The recession is officially over, but consumers are still keeping a close eye on spending this holiday season. According to Eversave's survey:

  • 40 percent surveyed said they'll spend less this year compared with 2009 

  • 50 percent plan to spend about the same

  • Only 9 percent plan to spend more on holiday shopping this year

Eversave's survey results also showed the types of deals most sought after by consumers for holiday gift-giving this year, revealing the following top preferences:

  • Retail -- 67 percent

  • Restaurants -- 46 percent   

  • Events & Activities -- 30 percent 

  • Health & Beauty Services -- 23 percent

  • Other -- 20 percent
