(E & E) (NASDAQ: EEI), joined other transmission industry leaders recently in Washington, DC as a presenter at The High-Voltage Grid: Its Operations, Challenges, and Benefits, a Congressional briefing on emerging issues facing electric transmission developers.

The briefing, co-sponsored by Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) and the Working Group for Investment in Reliable and Economic Electric Systems (WIRES), was attended by congressional aides and industry representatives and examined key issues affecting the electric transmission industry, including aging infrastructure, regulatory standards, and siting and permitting.

Belin discussed emerging opportunities and challenges in permitting electric transmission lines in the current regulatory framework. He described how developers have become more proactive in public outreach and stakeholder engagement opportunities, and noted that permitting at the federal level is challenged by a lack of consistent and comprehensive permitting authority.
