Dancap Productions Partners With Parents for Children's Mental Health: Dancap Productions Supports Parents for Children's Mental Health With the Show "Next to Normal"

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 14, 2011) - Children are bullied. Parents are ashamed. Communities are divided. That's what life looks like when we don't eliminate the prejudice of living with mental illness. For every ticket purchased for Next to Normal, Dancap will donate $5.00. Note when booking your tickets call 416-644-3665 or on line at and quote "PCMH."

Winner of the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and three 2009 Tony Awards, "Next to Normal "is an emotional powerhouse of a musical with a thrilling contemporary score about a family trying to take care of themselves and each other. Alice Ripley, who received the 2009 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, will reprise her acclaimed performance in Toronto. In awarding the Prize, the Pulitzer Board called "Next to Normal", (featuring music by Tom Kitt, book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey, and direction by Michael Greif) "a powerful rock musical that grapples with mental illness in a suburban family and expands the scope of subject matter for musicals."

Not only will this partnership help to support the work of Parents for Children's Mental Health, it also brings awareness to the issues that often keep mental illness in the shadows.

"We are thrilled to be in partnership with Dancap Productions and having the opportunity to help promote and showcase a powerful production that will continue to help raise awareness and bring attention to the issues of mental illness that will ultimately break down the social stigma surrounding it," explains Sarah Cannon, Executive Director of Parents for Children's Mental Health. "We hope that many will go to the show and come out with a different impression of what it might be like for families who have to cope with these daily challenges and struggles of mental illness and we will continue to speak out for families who are struggling too often in silence and without much-needed care and support."

Parents for Children's Mental Health is an Ontario-based non-profit organization led by parents and dedicated to raising the voice of families and children who face the daily struggles and challenges when dealing with child and youth mental health issues.
